SAU Camp Staff

Randy Hernandez, Camp Director, Hernandez Basketball Academy, LLC

Randy Hernandez enters his 9th year on the St. Andrews Athletics Staff and third as the Head Men's Basketball coach after being named head coach in March of 2015.

Hernandez led the team to 12 wins a season ago in 2016-17 as well as a quarterfinal appearance in the conference tournament where they fell to the defending national champs.

Hernandez came to the SAU athletics staff in September of 2008. He was formerly the head game/facilities manager for all Knight athletic events, the strength and conditioning coach for various sports, and a Resident Director.

In his time at St. Andrews, Coach Hernandez has also served as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team, 2008-2011, the assistant coach of the women's soccer team from 2010-12, and as the interim head coach of the women's soccer team for the spring 2010 semester.

Hernandez joined the SAU staff after graduating from Richmond Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration in 2008. Hernandez continued to work towards his Bachelor’s Degree while coaching at SAU and earned a BA in Sports and Recreation at St. Andrews in 2010. Hernandez has also recently earned a Master's Degree in Physical Education at UNC Pembroke in 2015.

The Bronx, New York, native brings a local connection to the SAU hoops program having played for the Laurinburg Institute basketball team in 2003-04. Prior to that, Hernandez played high school and club basketball in New York City.

Hernandez currently resides in Southern Pines, NC with his wife, Tricia, and sons Vincent, Antonio, and Noah.
